When is it good enough for you?
I hope this message finds you all in the best of health. The past few weeks have been incredibly hectic for me due to work and personal commitments, which has led to a short gap between newsletters. But, please read until the end, as I have something special to offer, free of charge.
Recently, I've been on a journey of exploring life and understanding how to live it to the fullest. This exploration involves doing things that bring me joy, stepping out of my comfort zone, being open to new experiences, and making the most of the present moment. It's a challenging path, to say the least, as it requires breaking away from usual norms and embracing uncertainty. Uncertainty is something most of us are not fond of for prolonged periods. The effort and patience required to keep pushing oneself to the limits are indeed commendable. This journey raises an important question: when is it enough?
After much contemplation, I’ve concluded that humans are inherently greedy. No matter how much we have, we always seem to want more. I recently watched a debate between a Saint and audience members, where the question was posed: why don't rich people donate their money to the poor? The Saint's response aligned with my conclusion. He asked the audience, "Would you give away something of value in your day-to-day life to someone else? If your answer is no, why would you expect a rich person to give away their money?" This idea revolves around the notion that no human ever feels they have enough. A rich person, despite having ample wealth, still feels it's not enough. Similarly, a middle-class person, even though they have secure meals for the foreseeable future, will still seek more. This insatiable desire is a fundamental aspect of human nature.
So, when is it enough? Is it a specific amount of money, a certain acreage of land, or the ability to maintain a fancy lifestyle without worrying about the next meal? I believe the answer varies from person to person. For me, I would say it's enough if one can meet basic needs and live a life focused on experiences rather than material possessions. Many people are unhappy because they constantly seek the next shiny, materialistic thing, and this search is never-ending.
I wish more people would see living life as the best possible way to experience the limited time we have and believe in leaving the world a better place than we found it. There is nothing more important in life than life itself. Trying to be the best version of yourself, taking on difficult challenges, and growing as a human being are the most respectful things we can do for ourselves.
The journey of exploring life to its fullest involves significant self-discovery and personal growth. This path is undoubtedly fraught with challenges, as it demands a high degree of resilience and adaptability. However, it is through these challenges that we grow and evolve.
The question of "When is it enough?" is central to this journey. In a world where we are constantly bombarded with messages that equate success with material wealth, it is easy to fall into the trap of thinking that more is always better. But is this really the case?
It doesn't mean that we should not strive for more or set ambitious goals. Rather, it means recognizing when our pursuit of more is driven by genuine desire and when it is fueled by societal pressure or a fear of missing out.
It's important to remember that happiness often comes from within. Material possessions can bring temporary joy, but lasting happiness typically comes from meaningful experiences, relationships, and personal growth. When we focus too much on acquiring things, we can lose sight of what truly matters in life.
One of the most profound lessons I've learned is the importance of living in the present. The future is uncertain, and the past is unchangeable. What we have is the present moment, and making the most of it can lead to a more fulfilling life. This means being present in our interactions, savoring the small joys of life, and taking time to appreciate what we have.
In conclusion, the journey to living life to the fullest is deeply personal and unique to each individual. It involves questioning norms, embracing uncertainty, and focusing on what truly matters. It is about finding a balance between striving for more and being content with what we have. By focusing on experiences, personal growth, and making the most of the present, we can live more fulfilling and meaningful lives. Thank you for taking the time to read this newsletter, and I hope it inspires you to reflect on your journey and what it means for you to live life to the fullest.
